Description:

The Pearson Foundation is developing instructional materials for an international business course to be used by high school career academies throughout the U.S. We are looking for a freelance writer with both subject matter expertise and educational experience to work 25 to 40 hours per week from mid-September 2008 through May 2009. Compensation will be hourly DOE and as appropriate for a nonprofit setting.

The successful candidate will create lesson plans and instructional resources for Business in a Global Economy, part of a professional track offered by a network of public high schools predominately based in urban districts with underserved student populations. This one-semester course will familiarize students with the reasons companies expand into international markets and introduce them to the fundamental concepts and skills they will need to be successful in international business.

REQUIREMENTS
- Expertise in the field of international business
- Professional experience with student-centered instructional design and curriculum development; classroom teaching experience is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts and instructions effectively and succinctly
- Availability and flexibility for the duration of the project, including the ability to meet in Marin County once or twice a month
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in a relevant field
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (especially the advanced functions of Microsoft Word)
- Working knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
